This Buffalo Nickel was struck with a broken die at the mint. What
is amazing is that this coin was in circulation for years befor being discovered. Most obvious errors are spotted
when the coin is first
put in circulation, because people notice the mistake and put it away. The crack only appears on the Obverse side (Indian). It was
probably one of several that the mint missed but the actual number of
them is unknown.
